Star Wars Episode III leaked!

Star Wars Episode III has been leaked to the Internet. I’m shocked. It’s just a workprint with watermarks and timecode, but word on the street is that it is watchable. All the DRM, copy-protection, laws, threats, etc. can’t keep the MPAA’s own from illegally distributing certain movies. You can download a sample here, here, or here, compliments of Waxy.

Is your boss watching?

For those that think they have little privacy in their cube, consider this. According to an article at Cnet, 5% of US companies use GPS to monitor their employee’s cell phones. 8% use it to track their vehicles. 75% monitor websites visited. 36% track "content, keystrokes and time spent at the keyboard." 50% store/review employee computer files. 55% store/review employee emails. The list goes on and on… phones, cameras, etc.

If you had purchased $1000.00 of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00.

With Enron, you would have had $16.50 left of the original $1,000.00 .

With WorldCom, you would have had less than $5.00 left.

But, if you had purchased $1,000.00 worth of Beer one year ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the cans for the aluminum recycling  REFUND, you would have had $214.00.

Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

L.A. County jail tags inmates with RFID

L.A. County jail has decided to tag it’s inmates with RFID tags. This allows them to track and record each persons activities. For the moment, the RFID tags are contained in bracelets required to be worn by each inmate. I must admit this is much better than requiring chip implants like other place do. Guards also wear RFID tags. The article is here.
